took death upon Himself
On that cruel cross of pain,
And those who look in faith to Him
Eternal life shall gain!
My times are in my Father's hand;
How could I wish or ask for more?
For He who has my pathway planned
Will guide me till my journey's o'er.
Don't expect to have tomorrow
What is offered you today;
Jesus asks you now to follow;
Trust in Him and don't delay.
Some people think they have it all
When riches come their way;
But their great loss will be revealed
On God's accounting day.
There never is a night or day
That God can't hear us when we pray;
There is no time, there is no place
That God withholds His love and grace.
Though times be dark, the struggles grim,
And cares rise like a flood,
This sweet assurance hold to Him--
My God is near and good.
Only this hour is mine, Lord--
May it be used for Thee;
May every passing moment
Count for eternity.
I never walk alone, Christ walk beside me,
He is the dearest Friend I've ever known;
With such a Friend to comfort and to guide me,
I never, no, I never walk alone.
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound--
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind but now I see.
The Master is seeking a harvest
In lives He's redeemed by His blood;
He seeks for the fruit of the Spirit,
And works that will glorify God.
Day by day perform your mission,
With Christ's help keep at your tasks;
Be encouraged by His presence--
Faithfulness is all He asks
truest heroes never carve their name
On marbled columns built for their acclaim;
They build intead a legacy that springs
From faithful service to the King of kings.
Our life of service to the Lord
Bears fruit long after we are gone;
So even if our life's cut short,
Our work for Christ will carry on.
"For better or for worse," we pledge,
Through sickness and through strife;
And by God's grace and with His help
We'll keep these vows for life.
It's possible to read the Bible through
Yet never see the glory that is there;
But when you know who Jesus really is,
You'll see Him on its pages everywhere.
If God is calling you today,
Then trust in Christ without delay;
Tomorrow it may be too late,
For death's grim hand could seal your fate.
Beneath His watchful eye
His saints securely dwell;
That hand which bears all nature up
Shall guard His children well.
Whatever you are working on,
Engage in it with zest,
Because your work is for the Lord
And He expects your best.
Give as 'twas given to you in your need,
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed,
Unto your mission be true.
Lord, help us learn from what You did
When You lived on this earth;
You spread Your love to all You met--
You gave each one true worth.
Come to the Savior, make no delay--
Here in His Word He's shown us the way;
Here in our midst He's standing today,
Tenderly saying, "Come!"
